Beaches in North Jutland

Denmark is renowned for its beautiful beaches along the coasts of Jutland, Funen and Zealand. **Tolne Camping is centrally located in North Jutland**, making it easy for you to visit various beaches on both the east and west coasts. The nearest beach is about **17 kilometres** away.

The famous seaside resort of **Skagen** and **Grenen**, the northernmost point of Denmark where the North Sea and the Kattegat meet, are also easily accessible from Tolne Camping. Whether you opt for a quiet cove, a wide sandy beach on the North Sea or a lively seaside resort: from Tolne Camping, you can fully explore the diverse Danish coast.

Tversted

Just a 15-minute drive from Tolne Camping, you’ll find the vast sandy beach at Tversted. Enjoy the fresh sea air, a refreshing dip or a lovely walk along the beach. It’s the perfect spot for relaxation, playing with the children or a day out on the beautiful Danish coast. Whilst you’re in Tversted, a visit to the Blå Ishus (the Blue Ice Cream Parlour) is an absolute must. It’s a household name in the region and is renowned far beyond Tversted for its huge and delicious ice creams. It’s a fantastic treat after a lovely day at the beach.

palm-lined beaches in Frederikshavn

Looking for a unique day out? Pay a visit to Palmestranden (Palm Beach) in Frederikshavn – a must-visit for the whole family. This is no ordinary Danish beach; with real palm trees, fine white sand and shallow, clear water, you’ll feel as though you’ve been transported to the south for a moment. The beach is very child-friendly, has good facilities such as toilets and showers, and there are even beach volleyball courts for the more active visitors.

Right by the beach, you’ll also find the Junglestien (Jungle Trail), a fantastic play area for children. This is an adventurous nature trail and a unique playground where children can climb, scramble, slide and explore the area to their heart’s content. With challenging obstacle courses and playhouses set amidst nature, this is the ideal spot for hours of fun, whilst you enjoy the relaxed atmosphere by the coast.

West Coast

Discover the rugged west coast: Nørlev, Løkken and Blokhus

Would you like to experience the power of the North Sea? From Tolne Camping, you can reach Denmark’s beautiful west coast in no time. Here you’ll find vast sandy beaches, iconic dunes and the fresh sea breeze that is so characteristic of this region.

The beaches at a glance:

Nørlev Beach (approx. 25–30 minutes’ drive): This is the closest beach on the west coast to our campsite. A lovely, peaceful beach that’s perfect for a relaxing stroll through the dunes or along the shore.
Løkken (approx. 35–40 minutes’ drive): A bustling seaside resort with a beautiful, wide beach, famous for its characteristic white beach huts and iconic pier. In the charming town centre, you can enjoy a spot of shopping or a bite to eat.
Blokhus (approx. 45–50 minutes’ drive): A little further south lies Blokhus, one of Denmark’s most popular holiday destinations. The beach here is spectacularly wide and, in the summer months, it’s wonderfully lively.

Good to know: Løkken and Blokhus are known for their vast sandy beaches, where in many places you’re allowed to drive your car onto the beach – a unique Danish experience!

Skagen and Grenen

Skagen Strand is situated at the northern tip of Jutland and offers a beautiful, wide sandy beach with dunes and fresh sea air. Close to Skagen lies **Grenen**, the area’s most famous nature reserve. Here you can see where the North Sea and the Kattegat meet. The waves meet at the very tip of Denmark, a remarkable natural phenomenon that you shouldn’t miss. Combine your visit to the beach with a walk along Grenen and a trip to the charming town of Skagen.
